About the Noble Steeds Social Engagement Awards

Dead Horse Projects are your suggested antidote to a Dead Horse posting on this site. You can create a new project by registering it on this site (see: Register a Project) and you can also register an already existing project in the same way.

And: all Dead Horse projects must include the URL to the Dead Horse that they want to address. For example, if you want to address the sample Dead Horse “War” you just need to include the URL for that page in the registration information.

If your project addresses a Dead Horse that is not already posted on the site, just go ahead and create a new Dead Horse posting and then register your project using the URL for the posting you created.

The very fact that you have created a Dead Horse Project means that you are on your way to winning a Noble Steeds Social Engagement Award!

Why Create a Dead Horse Project?

There are many possible reasons you would want to create a Dead Horse Project, including:

  • You are not cynical and resigned about “the way things are” and you believe that by taking positive action, you and your community can make positive tangible impact for the planet, in peaceful and constructive ways. Right?
  • You want to have the satisfaction of knowing that you “did something” instead of merely lamenting the sad state of things on the planet.
  • You want to create a project that will make a difference and also inspire others to join the fun.
  • You want to make a difference by doing what you can now AND attract funding by winning a Noble Steeds Social Engagement Award. Funding for these awards is donated by corporate sponsors who believe in encouraging grass roots projects that address Dead Horses they are also concerned about.

Important Reminder to Project Originators:

We are independent and, in principle, we take no position on what type of projects should or should not be created. That’s up to the imagination, creativity and passion of the project originators and their sponsors. However, we do make sure that all projects and postings match our high standards of acceptability: we will not allow any project that is of a negative, violent or abusive nature to exist on our site. We want to eliminate Dead Horses, not foster them! Projects that seek to engender attacks, violence or other negative tactics will not be maintained on our site. All projects must be focused on positive change by providing new alternatives, not simply creating more social conflict. We support only projects that are positive in nature and focus on constructive dialogue and peaceful means of achieving change. If your purpose is simply to attack, tear down, criticize or engage in negative publicity, this is not the place for your project. We have seen enough of war on this planet and we won’t allow The Dead Horse Project to be hijacked by war-mongers or hate mongers. So if that’s your style, don’t waste your time here. Find another horse to ride.

It’s Interesting to Notice That:

By attracting the attention of other like-minded individuals and communities to your Dead Horse Project, you can create momentum and really make a difference.

For example, you can post videos about your project on YouTube and link them to your project page on this site. Likewise, you can have similar impact by linking your project page to other social engagement sites such as, but not limited to:

  • Digg
  • Facebook
  • Del.icio.us
  • Reddit
  • StumbleUpon
  • Google Video
  • Your Blog
  • Whatever…the sky’s the limit

The Dead Horse Project has already created groups for this purpose on YouTube (see: ) and Facebook (see: ) and you can also create your own Dead Horse Community using the social engagement community platform of your choice. It’s entirely up to you!

How Can You Increase Your Chances of Winning a Noble Steeds Social Engagement Award?

First, read carefully the Judging Criteria posted on this site, See: Judging Criteria for Noble Steeds Social Engagement Awards.

Once you are clear about the success criteria, you can start enrolling others to support your project using the social engagement communities of your choice.

One of the important ways that judges will assess your positive tangible impact is by observing the size of the community you are able to engage in supporting your project. It’s up to you to use your best creativity and persuasive talents to inspire others to join in making the planet a better place to live.

How Can I Attract a Potential Corporate Sponsor for My Project?

The Dead Horses Project will do its best to attract corporate sponsors to the site and encourage them to commit resources to winning projects. You can also approach sponsors directly and direct them to you Project Page. It's entirely up to the sponsor whether they support your project or not, so do you best to make your project inspiring, creative and impactful for the communities and individuals you want to benefit.
